Gates scholars are academically outstanding students who show leadership potential, a commitment to improving the lives of others and a good academic fit with Cambridge. They are international and pursue a wide range of academic subjects at Cambridge. Gates alumni are spread throughout the world and pursue a multitude of careers.

- 90 new scholarships awarded each year, 40 of which are awarded to US citizens
