10th Anniversary event
The 10th Anniversary celebrations of the Gates Cambridge Scholarships were a huge success, with over 350 scholars, alumni, guests and visiting speakers gathering in Cambridge on 2- 4 July 2010 to discuss issues of global interest.
The event was jointly organised by the Gates Scholars' Alumni Association, the Gates Scholars' Council and the Gates Cambridge Trust.
The University's Vice-Chancellor and Chair of the Gates Trustees, Professor Dame Alison Richard, welcomed everyone at the opening reception on Friday evening, and on the following evening her predecessor in both roles, Lord Broers, spoke at dinner of the various strands that had led to the Gates scholarship programme and had laid the ground for its development and success.
The weekend included a range of social and networking events for Gates Scholars and Alumni and was rounded off by a wonderful garden party in sunshine in Robinson College gardens.
